Bio:
Daniel Adams lives with his wife, Meagan, in McRae, Arkansas. Daniel is a full professor in the Department of Art and Design at Harding University. There are two main interests that drive his work; observation of nature and man-made forms, and the visualization of God's work in our world. Since God created man in his image, we as artists possess a sacred gift of creativity. Daniel Adams is a printmaker. A printmaker makes original hand made works of art in multiples. Most of his prints are woodcut prints. I like the physicality of cutting the wood and overcoming the resistance of the woodgrain--it is much like struggling against the trials of the world in order to create a beautiful life. A woodcut print is made when an image is cut from the surface of a block of wood, the block is inked, and paper is laid on the inked surface. Once sufficient pressure is applied to the back of the paper, the ink is transferred to the paper surface. A woodcut print has been created. Adams also produces etchings, lithographic prints and silkscreen prints. Daniel has a series of silkscreen prints based on the life of Joseph in the Old Testament. Each of these prints concentrates on a particular moment in Joseph's life, without ever mentioning the coat of many colors. God is the power that colored Joseph's life, just as he does ours.
