Ahn, Soyoon

Soyoon Ahn is currently teaching art classes at Arkansas Tech University. She graduated summa cum laude in 2019 from Arkansas Tech University with a BFA in Fine Arts. She has won many awards for her ceramics and Korean folk paintings. She was born and grew up in Seoul, Korea. Her works are influenced by Korean folk arts, called “Minwha.” She utilized the traditional Korean folk painting designs in American modern ceramics. She has experimented with various surface decorations for ceramics such as an inlay technique with porcelain slip, painting with cobalt carbonate to apply flower motifs; lotus, peony, and chrysanthemum from Korean folk paintings onto her ceramic works.
