“It all starts with a bag of clay.” I hand build whimsical clay houses, meant for Toads to reside in. I’m even called "The Toad House Lady." We’ve found though, if a fairy gets there first, she puts down a fairy rug and claims the house for her own. Once you put up your “For Rent” sign, it’s a race between toads and fairies as to who takes possession.
My first toad houses were very simple. They have become progressively more detailed over the years, with the introduction of creatures who live in each house in my mythical Fairy Village. Now I cannot seem to make a house without a creature or a creature without a house! I delight in creating pieces which bring smiles every time they are viewed. A written story about the house and its creatures goes with each sale. It's all a grand excuse to stay young and play with clay, dragons, fairies, snails and tortoises. My body of work is earthy and primitive. Folks often say they wish THEY could live in the house.
They are suitable for outside use and toads really do use them. Can't speak for fairies, but word on the street is they are the most desirable homes in town.
