Kim, Yun
Painting
Stone County
Gallery Artisan, Board member

She died suddenly Dec. 13, 2024. She will be missed.
Artist Yun Kim had an expressive style of painting using exuberant color on canvas. Kim studied painting and sculpture from the third grade through college in Seoul, South Korea. She moved to New Jersey with her family in 1988 and while adapting to her new home, laid her creative pursuits aside. Kim married Bobby Hensley whom she met in New Jersey and relocated to Mountain View in 2008. A Mountain View Art Guild workshop in pastels rekindled her creativity, so she became a member and resumed her artistic endeavors. Kim enjoyed working in several different media – acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, collage, and charcoal. Her subjects included people, animals, water and landscapes, still life, and abstracts. “I paint whatever I think is beautiful,” she says.
Her ability to capture movement in her brushwork was evident in her waterfalls, creeks, and the manes and tails of galloping horses. She lived in the forest near Mountain View where there is an excellent view and she can take photos to use as subject matter for paintings. Part of their garage had been renovated for her studio, with the ambience and music she enjoyed while painting. She was a part of the Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour held the 3rd weekend of September every year.
